The gender & Trade project was developed thanks to a CAWTAR and Sida common vision to carry out a number of principles, while conceptualizing and piloting elements as the best and most efficient means to test and carry out new approaches, methodology and tools as well as initiatives that will contribute to achievement of empowerment of women, gender equity in access to and control of resources including economic resources and access to trade markets towards Gender Equality.
The overall long term objective of this project is to provide support and technical expertise on gender and human rights integration in economic policies and Trade in the MENA Region.
Gender impact analysis can help policy makers and planners take into account not only the complementary policy measures that need to be implemented alongside trade commitments, but also the pace, scope and sequencing of trade liberalization. An adapted transformative gender mainstreaming and programming approach with required methodology and tools will be developed to fill the identified gaps thanks to the findings of the preliminary gender assessment, audit and analysis exercise.
