This document presents a study on Cultivating Resilient Institutions in the Arab Region-National Women’s Machineries in Challenging Times This study focuses on the unique aspect of how conflict, occupation and formal political transitions affect the work of National Women’s Machineries and examines the mechanisms for cultivating resilience in National Women’s Machineries in the Arab region utilizing the framework proposed by Judith Rodin in The Resilience Dividend: Being Strong in a World Where Things Go Wrong (2014). The characteristics for building resilient institutions – Awareness, Diversity, Integrated, Self-regulating and Adaptive – are applied to the work of National Women’s Machineries in four States (Jordan, which is hosting a sizeable refugee population; the State of Palestine, which is under occupation; Tunisia, which has gone through a formal political transition; and Yemen, which is conflict-affected) to obtain examples of good or unique practice.
This paper described four Gender Tools and Checklists, which can be applied in different contexts: The 3 (or 4) Method analyses gender aspects of an institution/organisation (structural level) and its „internal and external work“ (inicially designed for local authorities), The Gender Impact Assessment evaluates gender aspects of planned policies of political institutions, The 4 GeM Steps Method is a simple and short Gender Analysis on project level, and the Gender Analysis Framework is a detailed Gender Analisis for project planning, monitoring nd evaluation.
This document presents a Guidance for those individuals "seeking to more effectively respond to the behaviour and circumstances of the female offender" is offered. An executive summary and the following four chapters comprise this manual: characteristics of women in the criminal justice system, a descriptive summary; women offenders and criminal justice practice; the context of women's lives -- a multidisciplinary review of research and theory; and a new vision -- guiding principles for a gender-responsive criminal justice system. An appendix provides information regarding legal considerations with regard to women offenders.
The document should be short and concisely written so as to be accessed easily by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) staff and stakeholders. The recommended total length of the document should be 8 to 10 pages. Other important references related to the Good Practice Documentation should be part of the appendices.
The document presents the National Action Plan for the Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325. It was the result of a two-year effort, during which the United Nations Equality and Women Empowerment and the Republic of Finland accompanied with technical and material support. The National Action Plan for the Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325, submitted for approval, is the only indicator of Objective 4 «Supporting the effective participation of women in the fight against and their contribution to the dissemination of peace and security at national, regional and local levels” of Impact No. 2 of the National Plan for the Integration and Institutionalization of the Gender Approach recently approved for the period 2016-2020.
