The Heads of State and Government of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) met on 10 June, 2015 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt at the Third Tripartite Summit to officially launch the COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA). The general objectives of the Tripartite Free Trade Area shall be to: -promote economic and social development of the Region; -create a large single market with free movement of goods and services to promote intra-regional trade; -enhance the regional and continental integration processes; and -build a strong Tripartite Free Trade Area for the benefit of the people of the Region.

The paper presents an overview of the Somali conflict and peace process from the perspective of Somali women, considering especially the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (Resolution 1325) in Somalia. It gives a short introduction to Resolution 1325 and to the UNINSTRAW/ADEP project, followed by a context specific analysis of women's roles in Somali culture and society. Section three gives a historical background of the conflict and of the participation of women's organisations in ongoing peace and state-building processes. Section four looks at the roles of men and women in the Somali Diaspora, and the relations between Somali women of the Diaspora and women still living in Somalia, and concludes with a brief discussion of the International Conference.
This document presents a summary of the report of the study on Women’s access to basic services in Irbid and Zarqa governorates. This study aims to increase the understanding of the impact of the crisis on women’s access to basic services. Between April and May 2016, UN Women and REACH, with the support of the Government of Japan, undertook an assessment of women’s access to such services, while also looking at their quality. The first study of its kind in Jordan, its main objective is to highlight the need for gender responsive basic services and the impact changes in services have on the lives of women.
