This report provides policy makers, financial institutions and entrepreneurial support organizations with new insights into the attitudes, challenges and needs of women business owners and their firms in Jordan. Through face to face interviews and surveys of 444 female business owners representing women businesses in Jordan, the report identifies: Key characteristics of women-owned business enterprises; Their contribution to economic development and job creation; The challenges women face in both managing and growing their businesses; and, Preliminary recommendations for government, policy makers and stakeholders to support women’s entrepreneurship.
The Heads of State and Government of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) met on 10 June, 2015 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt at the Third Tripartite Summit to officially launch the COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA). The general objectives of the Tripartite Free Trade Area shall be to: -promote economic and social development of the Region; -create a large single market with free movement of goods and services to promote intra-regional trade; -enhance the regional and continental integration processes; and -build a strong Tripartite Free Trade Area for the benefit of the people of the Region.
This document presents Forsa Program "the Economic Empowerment of the Poor and Most Vulnerable in Egypt (FoRSA)". The objective of the program is to support the availability and accessibility of income generation opportunities to the poor and most vulnerable, while focusing on their economic empowerment and on fostering an enabling environment to comprehensive local development. The mission of Forsa is to empower, connect and build a conducive environment for local communities to succeed and to contribute to businesses development, employment creation and income generation opportunities.
The report is on the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030 which represents the way towards inclusive development through which cultivating prosperity, achieving economic and social justice, and reviving the role of Egypt in regional leadership can be realized. SDS represents a roadmap for maximizing competitive advantage to achieve the dreams and aspirations of the Egyptians in a dignified and decent life.
The agreement provides an appropriate framework for political dialogue, allowing the development of close political relations between the Parties ; –to establish conditions for the progressive liberalisation of trade in goods, services and capital; – to foster the development of balanced economic and social relations between the Parties through dialogue and cooperation; – to contribute to the economic and social development of Egypt; – to encourage regional cooperation with a view to the consolidation of peaceful co-existence and economic and political stability; – to promote cooperation in other areas which are of mutual interest.
